Ri Vhavenda Student Society

The Venda Cultural Society is open to all students and is built on values of respect and inclusivity. Its primary goal is to create a supportive and welcoming community where students from Venda, can feel at home in a new environment. The society helps members overcome academic, social, and linguistic challenges while celebrating and preserving the rich Venda culture and language.

Key objectives include:

• Cultural Promotion: Hosting traditional dance performances, dress competitions, and events that celebrate Venda heritage, customs, and practices.
• Language Preservation: Organising language workshops, discussion groups, and providing resources to help students learn, practice, and preserve the Tshivenda language.
• Academic and Social Support: Offering mentoring, tutoring, academic workshops, and career networking opportunities to support students' success.
• Community Building: Creating a safe space where students can connect, share experiences, and find a sense of belonging, especially for those far from home and family.
